Samuel was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ, where he tried to stay cool by swimming competitively during middle and high school. Throughout his formative years in Arizona, he was introduced to backpacking, skiing, rock climbing, cycling and cooking through both his parents. At least twice a year, the Scheurich family made the journey to the western slope of Colorado to camp and ski.
Upon completion of high school, Sam attended the University of Arizona where he majored in print journalism. In his free-time he (attempted) to play rugby for the Arizona Wildcats as a scrum half an wrote for the Arizona Daily Wildcat. After graduation, Sam interned at the Tucson Citizen on the news desk and worked as a line cook. While both of these career options were appealing, he set his sights on the United States Peace Corps and volunteered as an English teacher in Ceadir-Lunga, Moldova for over two years. In Moldova, Sam took the LSATs and applied to various law schools. It was not a difficult for him to choose the University of Denver and relocate to Colorado. He even managed to convince his brother Charlie to move out as well.
Now in his fifth year of practice, Sam has focused primarily on civil litigation. This has ranged from a high-volume plaintiff's injury and employment practice to commercial litigation and defense for a large corporation. Sam plans on taking his experience to Hoban Law Group where he will join the firm's commercial litigation practice. Sam is excited to be a part of the exciting and burgeoning cannabis industry locally, nationally, and internationally.
Still an avid outdoorsman, Sam's favorite activities are backcountry skiing, cycling, backpacking, surfing, and running. He also is sure to make time for his indoor hobbies of cooking, reading, and playing the guitar.
