David Bush has earned an M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Arizona and a J.D. in law from the University of Wisconsin. He is admitted to practice in all courts in Colorado, as well as the United States Court of Federal Claims and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
David began practicing law in the commercial litigation department of Robins Kaplan in Minneapolis before moving to Colorado in 1997. He prosecuted misdemeanor offenses in the office of the Denver District Attorney and handled consumer protection, transportation and criminal appeals matters for the Colorado Attorney General, before joining the joined the insurance defense litigation firm of Markusson, Green & Jarvis in 2000, becoming a partner in 2006. David left Markusson, Green & Jarvis at the end of 2014 to establish his solo law practice, David Law, where he offered legal services in industrial hemp regulation and compliance; general business law; construction claims; employment law and commercial litigation.
In 2017, David joined forces with the Hoban Law Group, where he continues to focus on cannabis business law, corporate law, commercial contracts, and commercial dispute resolution. David serves on the Business Advisory Council of the National Hemp Association and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Hemp Industries Association. He also is President of the Industrial Hemp Research Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting hemp-related public education and academic research at institutions of higher education in Colorado.
