Garrett O. Graff
Garrett Graff is an Associate Attorney at Hoban Law Group, where he specializes in representation of both the marijuana and industrial hemp industries. For these clients, and others, his practice involves corporate and transactional law, real estate law, regulatory/compliance law, FDA/FTC compliance, intellectual property law, and civil and commercial litigation. Garrett counsels clients regarding corporate structuring and re-structuring, acquisition and sale of real property and leasehold interests, drafting of transactional documents such as governing documents (operating agreements, by-laws and more), resolving partnership disputes and litigating commercial disputes.
Within the marijuana industry, Garrett represents numerous companies seeking licensure in Colorado, along with other states, and maintaining ongoing compliance with the evolving regulatory schemes. Garrett successfully obtained numerous licensures on behalf of Colorado-based clients, as well as worked on successful competitive applications in other states such as Maryland. Garrett also assists clients with the license of related intellectual property assets to expand clients' presence in other jurisdictions.
With respect to industrial hemp businesses, Garrett represents numerous companies across the United States engaged in various aspects of the hemp industry, including import/export of hemp materials and products, cultivation of hemp materials, and manufacturing and distribution of hemp-derived products. Many clients experiencing issues with either federal, state or local law enforcement or regulatory agencies seek Garrett's advice with regard to resolving such matters. Additionally, clients seek Garrett's advice relating to both federal and state compliance with laws and regulatory compliance such as FDA or state-level equivalents, such as packaging/labeling, website content and other product representations. Garrett also serves on the legal committee of the National Hemp Association.
Garrett has testified in judicial proceedings regard the legal and regulatory schemes concerning industrial hemp and has spoken at several conferences and industry events regarding various issues concerning marijuana and industrial hemp law.
Before joining Hoban Law Group, Garrett's experience includes clerkships with Hoban Law Group along with serving as a clerk with an insurance defense firm in Philadelphia and a judicial law clerk for the Honorable David L. Shakes in the Fourth Judicial District in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Though born and raised in Lakewood, Colorado, Garrett graduated from the Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, earning his J.D. cum laude, and graduating from the law school’s Business and Entrepreneurial Law concentration with honors. There, Garrett served as an associate editor of the Drexel Law Review, earned a position on Drexel's Transactional Lawyering Team and served in leadership capacities in multiple student organizations. Garrett received a B.S. in Business Administration, as well as an International Business certificate, from the University of Colorado-Boulder’s Leeds School of Business. Garrett also has extensive experience in real estate and property issues, given several years working with a real estate brokerage and property management firm.
Garrett and his wife, Anna, live in Denver. In their free time, they enjoy hiking, skiing, sporting events, reading and traveling.
