The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service and Farm Service Agency are hosting a webinar on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 1 p.m. eastern time for agricultural producers interested in applying for direct payments through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program.

Initially announced in mid-April, the program allocates $16 billion for direct payments to farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural producers whose commodities have experienced a 5% price decrease between January and April. Since that time, USDA has been creating a rulemaking process for the direct payment applications. The applications have still not been finalized, but the webinar offers producers a chance to learn about the required information and forms they will need to once applications become available.

Producers who wish to participate may register in advance for the webinar. An email confirmation should be sent after registration. There will also be an opportunity to submit questions through a Q&A box or by emailing CFAP.webinars@usda.gov, but questions will be addressed after the event. A recording of the video conference will be posted on farmers.gov/CFAP and the Agricultural Marketing Service Website.
